Adult Education
Philosophy: "…if two people sit and exchange words of Torah, the presence of what is Divine rests between them." (Pirke Avot 3:3)
Our Adult Education offerings create opportunities to exchange words of ‘Torah’ which may be a few different things: literally words from our sacred stories; understanding the nature of our customs, traditions or history; or focusing on contemporary issues or events relevant to our twenty-first century lives. All with the goal of inviting what is Divine to challenge, inspire or simply sit among us.
Anshei Mitzvah - Our Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah program is an 18 months program culminating in an Anshei Mitzvah service and celebration. The class meets bi-weekly on Saturday mornings.
Kabbalat Panim (Conversion) - As a community it is our privilege and obligation to welcome those individuals who wish to become Jews. Under the supervision of Rabbi Morris, participants study, reflect and do along the way toward formally becoming a Jew.
Rabbi Mo's Roundtable - A monthly Thursday morning breakfast get together with Rabbi Morris during which we address the issues of the day through a Jewish lens. The Roundtable meets in downtown Denver.
Adult Hebrew - Weekly sessions held during Religious School for those Adults who wish to learn the Hebrew Alphabet or build on their basic (and maybe rusty) knowledge of Hebrew.
Down-theHall Dialogues - A sharing of ideas and perspective between Rabbi Morris and his colleague 'down the hall,' Pastor David Bahr of Park Hill Congregational Church. In the past Pastor Bahr and Rabbi Mo have participated in a dialogue at one other's prayer service and then offered a dialogue session at another time during the week.
One-on-One - Learning opportunities come in so many forms and forums, Rabbi Mo especially enjoys those that are one-on-one. He marvels when he gets the chance to have a cup of coffee, lunch or breakfast with someone and talk 'God'… contact him if there is a subject of relevance to you that you would like to address in this context. Chai Mitzvah is an individually-styled opportunity to grow your Judaism including study, ritual, action and celebration. BYO Study (build your own) offers small group learning with Rabbi Mo where participants determine the what, where and when of the study.
