Rooted & Reaching: Mikdash Redesign Campaign
Our Mikdash (Hebrew for “holy place”) is our one-room synagogue—our primary space for ritual, learning, and community gathering. It is a former multi-purpose room with utilitarian finishes and fluorescent lighting that make it echoey and cold. Christian iconography remains in the windows, and we lack a dedicated ark, ner tamid (eternal light), and appropriate space for Jewish art and our Wall of Remembrance.
Because Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church (MBPC) is a registered historic site, improvements must meet preservation requirements, adding complexity and cost. With our lease extended for 10 more years, we are committed to a long, successful partnership with Montview.
Thanks to a $40,000 grant from Rose Community Foundation, and other lead gifts, we are nearly halfway to our $120,000 goal!
The fundraising campaign runs through 2026, with the redesign planned to start in early 2027 once funding is secured. Once the design process begins, it should take approximately 6 months to complete.
Your gift to the Rooted & Reaching campaign will transform our mikdash into a beautiful, authentically Jewish, safe, and accessible sacred space—deepening community and strengthening our interfaith partnership for current and future members.
You can make an individual donation through the button below, or send a check to us at 1980 Dahlia St., Denver, CO 80220. You can also give through your tax-deferred retirement account’s Required Minimum Distribution (if you are age 73 or older). Consult your tax professional for guidance. What Changes Will Be Made to the Mikdash?
The redesign will include:
- New lighting throughout the sanctuary to create a warmer, more reverent atmosphere for prayer, study, and communal gathering
- A fresh palette of wall color paired with refinished woodwork throughout
- Creation of a welcoming, purposeful entry space
- A special space for Micah’s Wall of Remembrance to honor and memorialize loved ones
- A dedicated, elevated area for the Torah ark and Ner Tamid (Eternal Light)
Donor Recognition
As a lasting expression of gratitude, all donors will be honored with a leaf on a beautiful commemorative tree in the new Mikdash.
Anyone who donates $3,600 or more will be entered to win one of two one-week stays at Casa Heron, a newly renovated 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom villa on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
You will be able to choose a date in 2026 or 2027 that works for you and the owner.
